Dear Friends,
This season is a reminder that as with nature, it is
possible for us to appreciate and then shed the old, to take time for
reflection and then to bring in the new. As I watch the leaves on the
trees turn into a myriad of colors I see a new beauty in that which has
matured within me, yet may no longer serve me. Watching the leaves
descend to the earth I let go of the past, and stand still, observing,
suspended between the old and the new. In this moment, anything is
possible. I have grown stronger, my roots are deeper and my branches
are reaching for the sky.
This is SkyDancing Tantra for us -
awareness of the connection of heaven and earth, of the old and the
new, of man and woman, and of the inhale and the exhale.
Much love,
 Lokita & Steve Carter

Creating
a Tantric Environment by Gaia, certified SkyDancing Tantra Teachers (Level 1)
A
Tantric environment is a sacred space. It supports body and spirit, honors
beauty, generates a feeling of safety and creates space for transformation. It
awakens the senses with tantalizing scents, luscious tastes, glorious sights, a
heart felt embrace and harmonious sounds. A Tantric environment is a place
where the primal and the divine are equally welcome.
We
might begin a Tantric practice by creating a sacred space for ourselves -
finding a quiet area, arranging an altar, surrounding ourselves with the
images, words, textures and sounds that inspire us. In a pair we might share a
sacred space ritual - clearing our psychic space, consciously leaving behind
the things that we don't need and inviting the things we do, recognizing the
other as an aspect of ourselves, and sharing a blessing or making an offering.
Tantra
implies expansion. Expanding our consciousness and our concept of self, we
leave behind the identification with "I", and begin to identify with "All". The
potential for a Tantric environment is within and all around us. We develop a
deep ecological awareness that we are the world and simultaneously we are of
the world. We cultivate the Mahayana Buddhist awareness of the Bodhisattva,
which necessitates a willingness and ability to apply skillful means and to
work tirelessly to support the evolutionary impulse toward Buddha consciousness
in all.
Tantra
is concerned with fertility. Shiva, awareness, and Shakti, pure energy, unite
in sacred union to create the cosmos. Calling on the awareness of Shiva as we
dance with Shakti in nature, we become aware of the rhythms of nature, the
rhythm of the breath, the beating of the heart and the dance of constant
regeneration. Without effort, we are healed and unified.
Nature
is the original sacred space. It is the temple of our spirit. I urge us all to
act consciously to create a Tantric environment within ourselves, and as a
reflection of that consciousness to take responsibility to care for the cosmos
within which we exist. With each ecstatic breath, inhale the gift of life and
exhale the gift of service.

Steve & Lokita's favorite SkyDancing Tantra Maxim "Tantra is not just about having more orgasms, but rather
it's about being orgasmic in every moment." Even for us experienced Tantrikas orgasms are momentary! So we like to practice being
orgasmic in everything we do. Being orgasmic is an adjective; it is a state of
being, not a ten-second occurrence.
Can I immerse myself totally as I write
this? Do I throw myself wholeheartedly into the waves of work, household,
love, pleasure, tears, anger and joy? Am I holding myself back or am I fully
alive?
This is what tantric practice is to us - a beacon of awareness and a
practical and easily accessible way to live ecstatically every moment of our
lives.

A Teaching from Margot Anand
"It is said that when
the god Shiva, the embodiment of pure consciousness, merged in sexual union
with the goddess Shakti, the embodiment of pure energy, their Tantric embrace
resulted in the creation of the Earth, the stars, the moon, the animals...
in short, their lovemaking resulted in the creation of the universe itself.
This beautiful metaphor contains an important truth, for in our evolving
understanding of this mysterious universe it has become apparent that all
energy and movement, and therefore all life, occurs between the attraction of
polar opposites.
It is the movement between the negative and positive poles that creates
electricity. It is the attraction between the male and the female that creates
new life. The dynamics of the universe are dialectical, apparently in a
conflict, but occurring within a larger context of unity and wholeness. This is the understanding of the Tantra vision." | |
